GREAT NEWS

Today David, our realtor and I met with the owners of the funeral home on pruden blvd. We went back and forth and finally agreed on a price, terms, and contingencies. HOWEVER, before the deal is final, they have to give the first church that made a verbal offer on the building ten days to match our offer. At this time we are the only ones who have submitted a written letter of consent. We are hopeful, but nothing is definite yet. Just thought you might want to know how close we are to a permanent building on a major highway in Suffolk.

The building is over 6,000 square feet. It has new carpet, a new roof, and new ceiling tiles. It has a sanctuary that can seat over 140. It has a room that could hold a children’s church for 75+ kids. It has 5 garages, three bathrooms, two kitchens, and many possibilities. The internal walls are not loadbearing, so we can expand or shrink rooms if need be. The parking lot is in great condition, and the lot is 1.87 acres.

Here are some photos I took while we were there today, sorry it was overcast, but you get the idea.

  1. Wow!!! This is awesome!!! The embalming room would be my only concern on how you transition it. Does it have a walk-in cooler where they used it for the holding area for the deseased. Also my experience with the funeral industry what reputation did the funeral home have with the community? People have mixed feelings visiting a place once used as a funeral home. I am not trying to be negative but please go and talk with the chamber of commerce or someone with knowledge of any bad situations that maybe happened in the pass. Your church is growing and I know my church family at Good News are praying for you.

  2. To my knowledge there is no walk in cooler, the building has not been in operation as a funeral home for a while, the owners ran a funreral home for over 20 years, and it became the most used funeral home in the area in the 90’s. They recently leased it to a chain funeral home, but weren’t happy with the prices the new business charged for funeral services.

  3. It makes me so happy to see how the good Lord
has blessed and continues to bless all the hard work that your family and David’s family has put
in to reaching the homes in Suffolk for Jesus. We
will keep praying for showers of Blessings. Thank
you for your sincere commitment in getting the job done. It’s all so amazing and wonderful what
God can do with such willing workers!! You make
    us so very proud!!
